Our Mission

A Welcoming Community of Faith

We are a diverse, ecumenical community of worshippers from many places and traditions who gather in Blue Mountain Lake to share in worship, support, and fellowship. Whether you're here for a weekend or the entire season, we invite you to participate fully in the life of our church.

Worship & Welcome

All who attend are considered part of the Transfiguration family. You are warmly welcomed to join us for Communion and Prayers of Healing, as the Spirit

moves you.

The Pack Basket

Each Sunday, parishioners bring essential items like toiletries, paper goods, and cleaning supplies. These offerings are blessed during the service and delivered to Community Action for distribution.

Resilience & Gratitude

Despite being a summer-only chapel with no formal pledging, we've increased our outreach every year. We give thanks for the beauty of this land and the strength of its people, even amid great need.

Support Our Mission

Please prayerfully consider a donation to the Church of the Transfiguration. Your generosity helps us continue this essential outreach and sustain hope in this special corner of the Adirondacks.

Small But Strong

We are a summer-only chapel—open just four months a year—with no formal pledging program and a rotating congregation. And yet, year after year, we’ve increased our outreach contributions, moved by the beauty of this place and the deep needs of its people.

Many of the people of Hamilton County suffer from extreme poverty similar to that experienced by people living through the Great Depression of the 1930s.  That’s why our mission is one of both spiritual nourishment and compassionate action.

Caring for Our Neighbors

Though Hamilton County is New York’s third-largest county by size, it is home to fewer than 5,000 residents—and faces severe shortages in healthcare, social support, and economic opportunity.

At the Church of the Transfiguration, we respond to these needs by:

  • Donating a significant portion of our annual budget to local relief agencies, including

    • Community Action Agency of Hamilton County

    • Home Health Care Services

  • Maintaining an emergency fund for heating, utility assistance, and crisis support.

  • Collecting non-food essentials through our Pack Basket ministry, including toiletries, laundry supplies, and paper goods. These are offered during our Sunday service and delivered to Community Action for local distribution.
